Tweaks for Windows 10 [Updated 2019/06/06]

Windows 10 might force old and possibly unstable graphics, chipset and other drivers to your system. To properly disable automatic driver updates on W10:

  1. Search for Group Policy from Start Menu
  2. Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update > Do not include drivers with Windows Update > Enabled
  3. Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Device Installation > Prevent device metadata retrieval from the Internet > Enabled
  4. Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Device Installation > Specify search order for device driver source locations > Disabled

Detailed status while startup, shutdown and updates:

  1. Search for Group Policy from Start Menu
  2. Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Display highly detailed status messages > Enabled

Disable automatic restarts for updates:

  1. Search for Group Policy from Start Menu
  2. Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update > No auto-restart with logged on users for scheduled automatic updates installations > Enabled

How to enable the hidden update deferral options in Windows 10 1903+

  1. Search for Group Policy from Start Menu
  2. Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update > Windows Update for Business.
  3. Set both "Select when Preview Builds and Feature Updates are received" and "Select when Quality Updates are received" to enabled.

Group Policy Editor is only available on Windows 10 Pro! On Home-version you need to manually install Group Policy Editor first (or this might also be achievable through registry editor.)
